BE218 Design Methods
Prosthetic Arm Project

The goal of this design was to produce an affordable prosthetic that can complete user specific tasks. The two main categories our arm is successfully designed for are weightlifting and cooking. All of our designed choices were made based on our specific client who is a male second year college student.
The creation process was pretty fun, we held multiple interviews to figure out the desired user needs to make sure we made a project the customer would actually use.
I learned a lot during this project. The technology involved was pretty simple, the electronics and code were fairly simple, but I learned a lot about designing around a customer and working with a team.
Something I would do differently in the future is better team organization. There were lots of deadlines we were cutting very close because we didn’t clarify when we needed tasks completed that other tasks depended on. In the future we will definitely do that.
ECG Project

This next project was designing a PCB and box for an ECG circuit. Now this pcb I designed is nowhere near as advanced as some of my other projects. [Link here]
But I learned a new SPICE software named DesignSpark. Now I didn’t like this software very much but its a new tool under my belt.
Designing the box was simple as well. We used an online box designer which we added a couple holes for the cable runs.
